What does innovation mean to you?

Innovation is a non-linear, serendipitous and open-ended process that when attempted, and because of that, does not guarantee success. However, we are stubbornly wasting our time to make it linear, predictable and even giving golden recipes for it. In other words, we a trying to do innovation management, which is intrinsically an oxymoron.

What do you believe is the most important capability for companies to thrive in the economy of tomorrow?

Truly internalise, therefore accept and embrace that innovation is a non-linear, serendipitous and open-ended process that when attempted and, because of that, does not guarantee success.

How can we leverage our collective strength to create a more prosperous future?

I will be honest. I do not know. Why? Let us take LinkedIn as an example. It is the world's largest professional network with more than 1 billion members in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Everybody, judging from posts, seems to be pro-active, engaged and hands-on to make a better world. So, why we do not have a better world? Is it because 1 billion people is not enough? Or is it because we are all in the "theatre of innovation, inclusiveness and sustainability"?

Describe your project and work and what makes it so innovative?

I am reponsible for the facility IdeaSquare at CERN which is dedicated to encourage a mindset nad hands-on for achieving seemingly impossible innovation.
